WWE - Down'n'Dirty

10 October 2004

Bliss, bliss, bliss! I fell in love again with Wrestling after 14 years of not following it (simply cause it stopped being shown on free italian tv!), but since 2003, Smackdown came back on tv and I've been following it, and since then, I kept up with storylines, feuds, heels, faces and the such, also thanks to the power of the internet. Then Wrestling became the huge thing all over Italy, and WWE started coming to do house shows. I wanted to go to this Turin show, I was about to buy tickets in July, when a stroke of luck allowed me not only to interview Rey Mysterio, but to get a couple of free tickets too! So, everything was perfect :)
I had a great evening and the wrestlers were very fun to watch. I'll leave you to the report for the results. But let me tell you, this report I am writing along with pics, was also published on Rajah.com, the main american wrestling site for fans, it made me so proud to contribute to it! For anyone who's read that report... please forgive me my typos, I've notice the report is full of them. I typed it down as soon as I got home, like at 2am, and I didn't proofread it. What an embarassment!

The ring! Actually, it looks so much smaller when seen in person! But don't they say everything is bigger on tv?
RVD & Rey Mysterio def. Jindrak & Luther Reigns

Not much to say regarding this match, a good way to open the show, but RVD and Rey did their usual tag team stuff, letting Rey suffer a bit by the hands of Luther, and then working together to defeat both opponents, using a combination of 619 and rolling thunder. Funny bit right at the beginning, with Jindrak teasing Rey because of his short height, he challened him to a strenght test, but Rey couldn't get to his hand, so Jindrak got on his knees to help Rey out. And was thanked with a dropkick to the face. Go Rey!

The usual squaring off before the match...
Look at the difference in height... and Rey Mysterio is exactly as tall (as short?) as me, so I felt for him!
Jindrak is about to be greeted with a dropkick to the face. So he'll learn teasing Rey.
The moment everyone was waiting for: Luther was kicked against the ropes, and Rey signals for the 619!
Luther got his own back... on Rey's back! He's, like, folding him in two or something here. And he has an ecstatic expression on his face while doing it!
But the good guys got the final vitory.
Here they are, celebrating together. RVD made people chant his R!V!D! name, and then made them chant the same thing for Rey Mysterio.
Spike Dudley (c) def. Funaki

Funaki got a huge pop out of the audience, and he was inciting more and more chants. He was also mimicking the italian gesture of "sod off", and Spike got mad at it. Actually, after a chop, Spike wanted to leave the ring, among boos from the audience. Then he came back and took severe beating from Funaki. I think Funaki went for the pin like 15 times in the match, and got like 7 times a "2 and 3/4". It was almost disappointing when Spike hit a Dudley Dog and pinned Funaki.

Teddy Long came out with Torrie and they entertained the audience with "Holla holls hollas" and throwing tshirts. Torrie was going out of the ring once she finished throwing the tshirts, when Theodore told her the audience wanted more tshirts, and she should gave away the ones she was wearing too. So she stripped (to reveal a mighty body!), and threw her tee to the audience.
The mighty body indeed. LOL.
Carlito (c) def. Hardcore Holly

CCC is well fun to watch closeup, cause he's always saying to the opponent to "cool down" and "relax". LOL. When he finally connected a ad stretcher on holly, he screamed "Now, this is a cool move!". So, loads of entertainment, but the macth was made by Holly, who, by the way, has an impressive body. Carlito kept on running from Holly and being beaten. then he kinda realized he was the Us Champion and somehow got the pin.

The king of cool, or the king of freaky hair?
Holly is so phisically strong... he mainly dominated the match.
Clinch!
This is when Carlito remembered he's the US Champion, and he beat down Holly a bit.
TAM! TAM! TAM! The Undertaker got in the house. People fainted for jpy. It was bone-chilling to see his entrance indeed.
Undertaker vs. Heidenreich

Heidenreich got quite a beating, until Undertaker was bouncing on the ropes and the upper one broke down. Taker took a huge fall (i don't think it was a "planned" event?) and seemed a bit out of the match for a few minutes. Then he came back with some good moves and ended it all with a chokeslam and and tombstone piledriver. Then he looked angrily at the broken rope, i thought he was going to hang Heidenreich or whip him, but instead he was just looking at the ropes ina really pissed off way. A guy next to me made me notice that he was slightly bleeding on the back of his head, so i think the fall was legit. Scary!

Undertaker dominating ont he guy who "killed" him at the No Mercy PPV.
Twist of fate... Undertaker got bodyslammed! (Notice the floppy rope!)
But he immediately lifted back with his typical "I am not dead" move, sitting down and then jumping up.
Some punches...
A chokeslam...
And the Tombstone Piledriver! Heidenreich got the full treatment!
