SACK TRICK

05 August 1999

I didn't believe my luck when I was told I was going to see Tyla!!! THAT Tyla,he of Dogs D'Amour fame! Live!In front of me!!! And he was just SUPPORTING!!! (The main band was Clam Abuse, and if you wanna see the pics of their set, click here). And he was going to play and acoustic set! With Danny McCormack backing him up! And he was going to be supported, too! By Sack Trick!!! Oh,goodness, how cool are some concerts, sometimes?

SACK TRICK Meet the band - and what a super-band it is! From right to left:Mickey Mouse Guitarist, aka David Ryder (bass player in Rachel Stamp); Robin Guy ( from Rachel Stamp) at the drums; Chris Dale (ex Atom Seed/Bruce Dickinson) singing and playing the bass ; Jeff ( ex Wildhearts!) at the guitar/Beano impersonation (sorry he's leaning backwards in this pic!).

Now,no one could tell the drumkit was lent by Rachel Stamp, could one? And,lo and behold: look in the background,Ginger himself is having a look at the show!Catch him now, cause when he'll get onstage as Clam Savage,he'll be under a heavy makeup...

Here he is,our crazy Guy! I love his dress! He was doing a rapping part in this photo! A drummer who raps (and raps well, forget about hip-hop crap!), how cool is it?

The three axemen doing the "Kiss-swing" thing... yeah,Sack Trick are pretty high on Kiss...they played 4 covers of them,to my great pleasure!Their own songs are great, too (especially THAT bunny song...),but pogoing around to the heavier versions of "Strutter" and "Rock and Roll" all night is surely so much fun... Also notice the KISS sticker on Chris' headstock!

Chris and David showing off their axing abilities!

Chris is showing off some more! Question:why has Jeff/Deano hair become blonde? Answer: his wig (you didn't believe all that black hair was real, did you?) caught FIRE!!! This is SO Rock and Roll!!!! Best way to end the set!!!

TYLA Here's the Man! Went onstage playing "Billy Two-Rivers" alongside with Danny McCormack (ex-Wildhearts!).Then Danny left the Man all by himself to entertain us for 45 minutes (and it was not enough!!!). You can see Danny's acoustic guitar on the right. It's so cool...

Tyla having a break for a sip of Coke. Is it JUST Coke? I hope not!

All the songs in the set were acoustic and quite slower from the original Dogs D'amour versions, and they were heart-breaking... "I don't want you to go" got a massive singalong chorus by all the audience, who was hugging each other and feeling so good!

Just some songs before the show was over, Tyla took out his ace up his sleeve to surprise us all... he announced that a new cd was on sale...a single... a single by the Dogs D'Amour! The crowd roared when he said they had reformed and then started to play the new song... See you with Bam and the others soon, then!
