THE NEW ORTENSIA SOX

14 September 2000

It was high time to pay some respect to my fave Italian punk bands, who have nothing, i repeat nothing to envy to all those American successful bands. They were just born on the wrong side of the pond, sadly. Tonight was a big SKA/CORE/PUNK night with Shandon, a household name in the Italian scene, and The New Ortensia Sox, a band in which actually my great mate GA plays the drums.
If you like their faces and you wanna hear more about them, just drop me a line and I'll be glad to tell you more...

THE NEW ORTENSIA SOX - Introducing the band: left to right there's Cerme (bass), Kino (Voice, Guitar), Ga (Drums) and Pala (backing vocals and stage antics...). You can also see the crowd pogoing to the band's big hit, GLORIA. Sadly the pic looks much more static than the big mayhem going on in the crowd...
If you wanna listen to Gloria, you can go to the New Ortensia Sox Homepage and download it!
Getting to see the band better: Cerme and Kino. No, don't ask me why in hell they were wearing coloured pantyhose that night...
PUNKROCK! Kino with his mohawk, Ga drinking wine from the bottleneck, and a feather boa thrown in just for the fun of it, along with a Rancid t-shirt. These guys surely have the right look, don't they? And the music is on par with it, of course!
Stage invasion! Two groupies (or just a couple of friends...) got on the stage and danced along. Here you can see the other backing vocalist, too: Mele. Check this band out!
SHANDON - Wow I managed to make the whole band fit into one photo!!! There's so many of them... Shandon are a ten-legged skapunk machine! Left-right: Marco (bass), Olli (Voice, guitar), Pedro (trumpet), Teo (drums), "Mr. X" (temporary replacement for Max Trombone - saxophone) and Marco (guitar).
Marco and Olli. Olli is a big, BIG Misfits fan, and this alone wins my respect... but his voice and writing skills are great too. So he's an all-round great guy!
Guys in skirts (kilts actually!): "Mr. Saxophone" and Marco. I luv the matching clothing!
Showing their total support for the local scene, Shandon invited Kino to sing a song with them on their latest album ("Fetish"). And since Kino was around tonight, he went onstage and did his part live, too! You can see him on the left of the pic.
Great show, great tunes, great audience! Oh, great band too!
