RANCID

07 September 2003

Rancid, then. As headliners of the Independent Days Festival, they came, they saw, they conquered. Came to Italy after too many years of guilty absence, they saw 35,000 people waiting for them in front of the stage, and they conquered them all simply shooting out their classics, along with a couple of new songs (which is a pity... I love their new album, "Indestructible", I would have loved to hear more!). But you can't hate them for playing an all-classics set!

Tim Armstrong taking his hat off, to acknowledge and greet the huge crowd!
They launched headlong in the set, alternating perfectly the singing between Tim and Lars.
Pseaking of Lars Frederiksen, here he is. I bet that tattoo under his chin. But, really, I think he was running out of places where he could get a tattoo. He's inked from head to toes!
See the rebel singing!
Isn't it sweet, that Tim has the sticker of his "other" band on the guitar? The Transplants, a side-project featuring that guy off Blink 182 too. It's a rather good band actually, even if it's no match for Rancid.
Ahhh... and how he pounds away, on that guitar!
Bassist Matt Freeman was doing his part of singing, too.
Take a look at the stage-setting... there was the roadsign of "Armstrong Ave.", amd i remember the Marshall amplifier logo had been altered to remind of Lars' name.
Oh, and since it's always so difficult to take pics of drummers at festivals, cause the stage is so deep, I thought I'd go backstage and get a pic of Brett Reed just for you all.
Ok, one pic just for me too. It was a pleasure, to meet Brett.
