THE MISFITS

28 January 2003

I know I will disappoint many of you saying this, but... well, ok, these are not the real Misfits, it's just a big joke, innit? They feature Jerry Only playing the bass and at the vocals, and they do Misfits songs, yet... this doesn't exactly feel right. Jerry, hope you won't take it personally, but you don't have a lead singer's voice, not even for a punk band.
But anyway, the call of the Misfits was so strong that i broke down and went to see this show anyway, also cause I was interested to see two other punk legends, Marky Ramone and Dez Cadena, play live. The show was... uhm. With a proper singer, they'd be ok, really. Misfits, go find a young guy with lots of passion in his throat and in his attitude, and put him in front of the crowd. He'll do alright, I'm sure. The selection of songs, from Misfits, but also Black Flag and Ramones, was fun. Let's just hope we can hear it coming from another throat next time....
And by the way, I've remained faithful to the hairstyle and I still sport a Devilock. :-)

The club was really packed...
Is this Jerry Only... or his action figure??? :-)
Dez Cadena and his amazing red-see-through guitar.
Jerry and Dez sharing vocal duties. With not much success, sadly...
Now Dez sings while Jerry performs one of his trademark rockstar poses!
Has Dez lost anything???
Dez was wearing a Ramones T-shirt. As was Marky!
Jerry's sneering drives fans nuts!
When the concert was over, Jerry and the rest of the band went right into the audience, signing anything that was thrown at them.
Even Marky Ramone came down for a quick hello and some handshakes!
Goold old Jerry-boy. Still the look of a 20-year-old... Long live Jerry! Long live the (real?) Misfits!
