MACHINE HEAD

28 November 2003

Just 15 days after seeing them in Italy, I got the chance to see Machine Head again in London, thanks for a very very cheap return flight (let me praise Ryanair.com for its continuos efforts to make me travel everywhere in Europe with the cheapest flights... how about this one, Milano-London and return for 30 Euros, taxes included???) and also thanks to a friendly guy name Giuseppe at RoadRunner Records, who gave me his all access pass to see the show for free. Ehehe! So, here's some more pics for the MH fans out there! For the record, they played exactly the same setlist as in Milan, cover-songs included (but with a Queens of the Stone Age cover more, and a riff-jam of Sweet Child O' Mine / Back in Black / Master of Puppets as a bonus!).

The legendary London Astoria. They still have the bill outside... it's great! If you look closely, you'll be able to read "Tonight: Machine Head 19.00 - 22.30. 23.00: Gay Camp Night". Gay camp! LOL.
The stage was bigger than in Milan, so they could put up the two big band logos and also the background curtain with the "Through the ashes of the empires" cover on it.
The wild, wild English crowd!
It's time to meet mr. Flynn again, in a good pic that shows Dave McClain behind him!
Here's some good news for drummer-lovers: this time I managed to take some shoots of Dave too!
Here's an even better closeup on him, pounding ont he drumkit.
Rob Flynn again, all cool lights and backgrounds.
Newcomer Phil Demmel was once again great with his Flying-V.
And he had great stage-presence too, he was jumping around and having fun all the time.
Curiously enough, Rob was wearing the same tshirt as in Milan. Hope he washed it a couple of times, at least!
Make those chords scream!
Adam Duce looking rather creepy in this lighting.
Rob starting his drinking/cheering routine...
He's now having a sip of Jack and Coke... and what he won't drink, he'll throw it to the crowd! A free drink on the band!
He looks rather satisfied now...
And now Rob really gets into his London-chat: he thanks the brits for always staying faithful to Machine Head even in bleak times, and now the band is back to UK to encourage massive drinking and sex in public, possibly even in the toilet facilities of the Astoria. That's exactly what he said! As if the brits need this kind of encouragment, for drinking and sex... ahaha!
This is me looking goofy, but i really had to show-off that pass, sooner or later! It looked SO good!
