A.F.I.

07 September 2003

Honestly, I am still not sure what's up with AFI. They are high in the praises of everyone, but I've not been able yet to like them fully. They are everything I should like: huge Misfits fans, dressed up, and using lots of glitter. The first 4-5 songs played today got me very excited, but then I started to realize they are all a bit too same-y, and the whole set started to kinda bore me. But anyway, Davey was much fun to meet, and they have a huge stage presence. It was a good enough gig, and warmed people up for all the big players of the Independent Days Festival.

A.F.I. counting to three and ready to go!
Yeah!!! Here they goooo!
It really looks like Davey has "A Fire Inside"...!
Here's the whole band, on the big, big stage.
Sitting at the side of the stage, like good school-students, are some very nice people. Among them, you can spot Lars Frederiksen (in the blue shirt!). They were all very interested in AFI's music, it was cool to see them sitting just like that and headbanging or tappign their feet a bit.
Davey showing off what in jargon are called "the sleeves": his arms completely covered in tattoos.
Here's guitarist Jade Puget. Jade? Mmm... and indeed, he acted a bit feminine. But that's all right,t hat's why we love him!
Bassist Hunter Burgan was much more raw and violent, instead. Look at the energy he's puting into singing some background vocals! Between his legs (uhm... in the pics, not literally) you can see drummer Adam Carson doing some vocals too.
Here are some closeups on Davey Havok, in a sequence of pics that will surely please his fans...

Good makeup, innit?
Davey getting a crowd-bath!
Davey and Jade back-to-back
Me and Davey, after the show. Most of his makeup had melted away, so it was a bit less glam. Shame! And he was wearing a horrible Transilvania (the club) sleeveless jacket. Fashion police?
